We are not one dimensional beings.
We are different things at different stages of our lives. We are many different things to many people all at once.
We are whole people. With many facets to us and many faces. We are not always “one way”, because each face we come across awakens something different within us.
We are always changing, growing, learning, being something new with every moment. We are everything that life is and life is everything that we are. And that’s how I prefer to see us..
Whole. Not fractured, not divided into a simplistic vision-But FULL–with nuances, challenges, dichotomies and odd distinctions. I don’t want to shackle anyone, nor do I myself want to be the prisoner of a pedestal, or the arbitrator of a rigid ideology.
I want to be an advocate for wholeness. I want to be problematic. And divine. I want to be it all. And I want to be in the presence of people on paths like mine, and paths unlike mine. People who don’t believe what I believe and people who do.
I don’t want a rigid styrofoam queer reality any more than I want a conservative one. I don’t want to spend my life reacting from a collective projection or playing a role in further fragmenting our truths. I want the full puzzle, with all the pieces and all the players, trying to place it all together to make something magical. With every elbow, thumb, pinky and index finger twisted, crossed and bumping– but trying to make it work.
Not perfect. Not pristine. Not queer. Not holy. Not conservative. Not liberal. And not orderly. Just magical. Just whole. Just everything.
Just We.
